What is Artspira? A Beginner’s Guide for Brother ScanNCut Users

1. What is Artspira?

Artspira is Brother’s creative app for mobile devices that allows users to create, edit and send projects to compatible Brother machines including SDX models of ScanNCut, top-end sewing machines and their craft printers. It is rapidly replacing other online platform for these same machines.

2. Which machines work with Artspira?

Artspira works with:

  • All ScanNCut SDX models
  • Brother embroidery machines
  • crafting-focused Brother printers for sublimation and fabric printing

3. What can you do with Artspira?

In Artspira you can:

  • create text-based designs
  • work with templates and Brother’s existing shape libraries
  • transfer projects wirelessly
  • access Brother project content
  • create quick personalised projects using your own photos and artwork

4. Is Artspira free?

Artspira is free to download. For some users, the free designs are enough alongside the option to import SVG files. However, for others there is a monthly subscription service which gives you access to even more designs, as well as a discounted rate for licensed designs such as Disney.

5. Is Artspira better than CanvasWorkspace?

Artspira and CanvasWorkspace are designed for different jobs. Artspira is ideal for quick mobile-based creativity, while CanvasWorkspace remains the more powerful design environment for complex ScanNCut projects.

I still prefer CanvasWorkspace for working with the machine and personally I don’t subscribe (except for the free trial you’ll see me sign up to). However, this is because I’m confident at creating my own files from scratch without the need for AI to do the work in converting images ready for cutting. Beginners may prefer Artspira as it skips a lot of the creative work using AI.

6. Should beginners use Artspira?

Yes. Artspira is one of the easiest ways to start creating with a Brother machine because you can begin directly from a phone or tablet. If you don’t have a laptop/computer, Artspira will soon become the only way you will be able to design and send directly to your machine.
