A quick hello đź‘‹

Your privacy matters to us.

At Go Create Craft, we’re all about creativity, learning and building confidence — not collecting data we don’t need. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

We’ve kept things as clear and jargon-free as possible, but if you ever have questions, you can always contact us at:
enquiries@gocreatecraft.co.uk

Who we are

Go Create Craft is a UK-based creative business providing books, tutorials, workshops and online content for crafters.

For data protection purposes, we are the data controller of your personal information.

What information do we collect?

We only collect information that helps us run our business and support you properly.

This may include:

Information you give us

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Billing and shipping address (only if you make a purchase/booking)
  • Any information you share when contacting us or applying for programmes (like Featured Artist) or support

Information collected automatically

When you use our website, we may collect:

  • IP address
  • Browser type
  • Pages visited
  • Time spent on pages

This helps us understand what’s working and improve your experience.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

Authors: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Readers/Commentors: Avoid putting any personal details in comments including order numbers. Use the provided Contact Us page or use any of the email buttons to reach out to us directly.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • process orders and deliver products
  • send emails you’ve signed up for (like newsletters or updates)
  • respond to your questions or enquiries
  • improve our website, content and offerings
  • manage applications (such as the Featured Artist Programme)

We do not sell your data. Ever.

Cookies (the digital kind, not the chocolate chip kind 🍪)

Our website may use cookies to:

  • improve how the site works
  • understand how visitors use the site
  • remember your preferences

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Chocolate Chip Cookies are always welcome!

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Sharing your information

We only share your data when necessary, for example:

  • with payment providers to process transactions
  • with delivery services to send your orders
  • with service providers who help us run our website and business

We do not share your data for third-party marketing.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. They may also be emailed as an alert to our blog moderators.

Our legal basis for using your data

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Contract – when you purchase something from us
  • Consent – when you opt in to emails or marketing
  • Legitimate interests – to improve our services and run our business effectively

How long we keep your data

We only keep your data for as long as necessary.

For example:

  • order information is kept for legal and accounting purposes
  • email subscribers remain on our list until they unsubscribe
  • enquiry emails are kept for reference and customer support

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information excluding password data. You can request a password reset at any time, and we can help you with this if needed.

How we store and protect your data

We take data security seriously and use appropriate measures to protect your information.

Your data may be stored securely using trusted third-party platforms such as:

  • email marketing providers (e.g. Mailpoet which this site uses for email correspondence and marketing)
  • website hosting services (e.g. WooCommerce who may monitor anonymous transaction data)
  • payment processors (e.g. PayPal who process our transactions when you order or book with us; Lulu Direct for book order processing, printing and despatch)

We only work with providers who meet appropriate data protection standards.

Email marketing

If you sign up to our emails, we may send you:

  • creative tips and tutorials
  • product updates
  • new releases and launches
  • occasional offers

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. No awkward goodbyes required.

Email marketing and correspondence is enabled using services provided by Mailpoet who have their own Privacy Notice and Terms of Use.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • request correction of inaccurate data
  • request deletion of your data
  • object to or restrict how we use your data
  • withdraw consent at any time (for example, email marketing)

To exercise any of these rights, just email us at:
enquiries@gocreatecraft.co.uk

Third-party links

Our website may include links to other websites (for example, social media or recommended tools). These sites have their own privacy policies, so we encourage you to review them.

We use third-party tools for book printing and despatch, payment gateways and marketing. Currently this includes the following:

  • PayPal for payment processing and fraud protection
  • WooCommerce for e-commerce
  • Mailpoet for email correspondence
  • BeyondSEO for SEO services
  • Lulu Direct for book order processing, printing and delivery
